Overview
Pokémon Pokopia is a cozy life-simulation and sandbox game from Game Freak and Koei Tecmo's Omega Force, released worldwide for Nintendo Switch 2 on March 5, 2026. You play as a Ditto that has transformed into a human — customise its look, gather materials, craft a home, and coax 300 Pokémon from every generation to settle a living island.
Gameplay
The loop is gather → craft → terraform → attract. Befriended Pokémon teach your Ditto their signature moves, which become your tools for reshaping the world. Rather than catching Pokémon, you invite them: build the habitat a species prefers and it moves in. A real-time day-night cycle and weather change what appears, and you can rest in bed to pass the time.
Critics called it "a spiritual combination of Minecraft, Viva Piñata and Animal Crossing" — it launched as the highest-rated Pokémon game on Metacritic.
Notable Pokémon
Themed island residents you'll meet — 300 species appear across the game.
A Pikachu that can't generate electricity — the island's mascot.
A painter with a real talent for decorating the world.
A Snorlax so still it's grown a coat of moss.
The resident cook, always after the next great meal.
A Rotom that's possessed a stereo and runs the soundtrack.
Uses its tools to help reshape and rebuild the landscape.
The island's environmental researcher.
Move Database

Starter Guide
- Gather the basics first — wood and rocks are the backbone of every early craft.
- Befriend Bulbasaur and Squirtle early: Leafage and Water Gun unlock most terraforming.
- Build the habitat a species wants (grass under trees, gear near benches) to attract it — you don't hunt Pokémon here, you invite them.
- Work with the real-time clock and weather — some Pokémon and materials only appear at certain hours.
- Furniture and vegetables aren't just decor; cozy, lived-in spaces draw more visitors.
- Rest in bed to pass time and reset daily activity when the island goes quiet.
Multiplayer
Up to four players can build together in co-op. It supports GameShare, so friends without a copy — even on an original Nintendo Switch — can join a host's island.
